More and more people are using online tools and businesses following the Covid-19 pandemic, which means it’s more important than ever that you focus on your search engine optimisation (SEO) and online presence this year.

Writing for Forbes recently, Oganes Vagramovich Barsegyan, founder and CEO of US-based firm Digital Beverley Marketing Solutions, picked out three key trends to be aware of as we move through 2020.

Among them is the rise of zero-click searches, which means that people are able to find the answer they are looking for on the results page itself, without having to click through to a website.

Mr Barsegyan revealed that almost 55 per cent of Google searches resulted in zero clicks in June of 2019, which means many people are finding the answers to their queries quicker than ever before.

Using structured data on your website is the best way to enable search engines to read your content and therefore increases the chance that you’ll be one of the featured snippets on the results page. Although people may not click to your site in this instance, you will be building awareness of your brand and that could encourage them to return in the future.

Optimising video content for SEO in Marlow, or wherever you’re based, is also important and a tactic that brands should adopt. This not only means ensuring that you have well-produced, engaging and informative videos, but that you don’t forget about the likes of captions and transcripts, as these can help improve your position on search engine results pages.
