How Your SEO Can Adapt to The 2024 Algorithm Updates

If you want to make a success of using organic SEO, your content will need to have a lot of qualities to ensure it can reach the first page of the search rankings. Failure to do so can be critical to your firm’s success, as few people ever look beyond the first page, instead choosing to click on one of the first few results they see.

This means you have to keep your content fresh and of high quality, as well as ensure it provides the kind of elements the search engine will rank it highly for, such as keywords, relevance, authority and ‘technical SEO’ elements like fast download speed and mobile-friendliness.

You will need help from SEO experts to do this at various times, particularly if your company website is new and you have only just started working on producing optimised content.

Another time you may need extra help is when the search engine algorithms change, which is exactly what Google did in March. This means experts have now had some opportunity to assess the changes.

Digital Marketing News recently highlighted that the main reason for the changes was to increase relevance, quality and user experience. It noted that a lot of companies responded with enhanced mobile-first indexing, which is certainly something every firm should do: According to Google, since 2015 the majority of searches have been made by phone.

The publication noted that other important measures to boost SEO include a growing emphasis on high-authority inbound links, which links with the growing importance of relevance and keywords.

What this means is that if you want your content to be relevant, don’t just link anything; make sure as much as possible that you only link to relevant content that can add value for the reader who clicks on it.

However, that does not mean you should focus on your links to the exclusion of all other aspects of SEO. Every part of it contributes to the whole in the race to reach page one.

Indeed, Search Engine Land has somewhat somewhat played down the importance of links. It said that opinions in the sector over the importance of links vary a lot. It notes that links create PageRank, but there is disagreement over its significance, observing: “Some believe PageRank is crucial, while others think its importance is all but dead.

However, it suggests, the truth lies “somewhere in between”.

These changes will not be the last ones Google makes, but it is also important to remember that while some things will change, others will stay the same. You still need relevant keywords. You can still improve on-page SEO with high-quality pictures and you can boost it further with video content. Your technical SEO still needs to be good.

Therefore, you should not despair that your past work won’t be of value, although some of it might need tweaks (such as swapping links on your evergreen content for better ones). But you could undoubtedly benefit from getting some expert help to ensure you are still on course for that lead page ranking.
